Erin Johnson

Bio
Erin Johnson
I am Erin Johnson, and I am a senior at The Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am in the process of researching colleges where I can pursue my interest in becoming a Special Education teacher and play golf at the collegiate level.
I grew up playing soccer, baseball, ice hockey, bowling, and golf, but my focus eventually became golf.
I have been involved in the First Tee program as a student, an assistant, and now an intern. I am currently in the ACE Level of the First Tee at Reeves Golf Course. ACE is the highest level a student can achieve in the program. I have set a goal to be the third person in chapter history to complete the ACE certification. Less than 100 participants in the entire First Tee network nationwide achieved this in 2020.
I am proud to be a part of our varsity high school team. In the offseason, I play in the Greater Cincinnati Girls Golf Association tour and the Peggy Kirk Bell tour. With practice, lessons, and hard work, I have taken my handicap from a 23 to a 12. My goal this year is to bring it down into the single digits. Competing in tournaments locally, regionally, and nationally, I have learned what I need to do to compete. Last summer, my goal was to finish in the top half. By the end of the fall, I had also won one tournament and finished runner-up in two others. I have learned the importance of team support, a positive attitude, and the game's integrity. I was recognized by my high school coach for those contributions to my team. In my sophomore year, I received an Honorable Mention by the SWOHSGGCA. This year, I received a spot on First Team by the SWOHSGGCA, and I also earned the most improved from my coach.
The Summit Country Day School is a private, college-prep school with high academic standards and a rigorous curriculum. I work hard to maintain my A/B average. My school requires 48 hours of service by the end of our four years. I currently have over 150 hours, most of which have been served at The First Tee with programs and events.
Not only do I play golf, but I also bowl for The Summit as a varsity captain. On top of athletics, I have been involved in my school's theatre program for 7 years. I also play the piano and sing for competitions. I have been playing the piano for 12 years now and have been singing for 3 years.
